    OpenClaw: Browser control startup could continue unauthenticated after auth bootstrap failure

    CVE-2026-32041 · GHSA-vpj2-69hf-rppw

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.3.1
    Fixed in
    2026.3.1· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    When browser control started without explicit auth credentials, OpenClaw attempted to bootstrap auth automatically. In affected versions, if that bootstrap step threw an error, startup could continue and expose browser-control routes without authentication. Impact On affected deployments, a local process (or a loopback-reachable SSRF path) could access browser-control routes, including evaluate-capable actions, without auth. Fix Startup now fails closed: if bootstrap auth fails and no explicit token/password is configured, browser-control startup aborts. Affected and Patched Versions - Affected: <= 2026.2.26 - Patched: 2026.3.1

    Recommended action: Upgrade to 2026.3.1 or later, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.

    OpenClaw ACP client has permission auto-approval bypass via untrusted tool metadata

    CVE-2026-32898 · GHSA-7jx5-9fjg-hp4m

    Affected
    • npm openclaw <= 2026.2.22-2
    Fixed in
    2026.2.23· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    Vulnerability Summary The OpenClaw ACP client could auto-approve tool calls based on untrusted metadata and permissive name heuristics. A malicious or compromised ACP tool invocation could bypass expected interactive approval prompts for read-class operations. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: npm openclaw - Affected published versions: <= 2026.2.22-2 (latest published as of February 24, 2026 is 2026.2.22-2) - Patched in code on main: 2026.2.23 (released) Technical Details - Permission classification trusted incoming toolCall.kind and heuristic name matching. - Non-core read-like names and spoofed kind metadata could reach auto-approve paths. - read operations were not scoped strongly enough to cwd in all metadata/title forms. Fix - Require trusted core tool IDs for auto-approval and ignore untrusted toolCall.kind as an authorization source. - Scope read auto-approval to cwd-resolved paths. - Add stricter tool-name validation and regression coverage for spoofed kind and…

    OpenClaw: Skill env override host env injection via applySkillConfigEnvOverrides (defense-in-depth)

    CVE-2026-4039 · GHSA-82g8-464f-2mv7

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.21
    Fixed in
    2026.2.21· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    applySkillConfigEnvOverrides previously copied skills.entries..env values into the host process.env without applying the host env safety policy. Impact In affected versions, dangerous process-level variables such as NODEOPTIONS could be injected when unset, which can influence runtime/child-process behavior. Required attacker capability An attacker must be able to modify OpenClaw local state/config (for example ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json) to set skills.entries.<skill.env or related skill config values. Remediation Fixed in 2026.2.21 by sanitizing skill env overrides and blocking dangerous host env keys (including NODEOPTIONS) before applying overrides, with regression tests covering blocked dangerous keys. Affected
    • npm openclaw <= 2026.2.17
    Fixed in
    2026.2.19· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    Vulnerability The ACP bridge accepted very large prompt text blocks and could assemble oversized prompt payloads before forwarding them to chat.send. Because ACP runs over local stdio, this mainly affects local ACP clients (for example IDE integrations) that send unusually large inputs. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected versions: <= 2026.2.17 - Patched version: 2026.2.18 (planned next release) Impact - Local ACP sessions may become less responsive when very large prompts are submitted - Larger-than-expected model usage/cost when oversized text is forwarded - No privilege escalation and no direct remote attack path in the default ACP model Affected Components - src/acp/event-mapper.ts - src/acp/translator.ts Remediation - Enforce a 2 MiB prompt-text limit before concatenation - Count inter-block newline separator bytes during pre-concatenation size checks - Keep final outbound message-size validation before chat.send - Avoid stale active-run session…

    OpenClaw safeBins file-existence oracle information disclosure

    CVE-2026-4040 · GHSA-6c9j-x93c-rw6j

    Affected
    • npm openclaw <= 2026.2.17
    Fixed in
    2026.2.19· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    An information disclosure vulnerability in OpenClaw's tools.exec.safeBins approval flow allowed a file-existence oracle. When safe-bin validation examined candidate file paths, command allow/deny behavior could differ based on whether a path already existed on the host filesystem. An attacker could probe for file presence by comparing outcomes for existing vs non-existing filenames. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected versions: <= 2026.2.17 - Latest published vulnerable version at triage time: 2026.2.17 - Planned patched version: 2026.2.18 Impact Attackers with access to this execution surface could infer whether specific files exist (for example secrets/config files), enabling filesystem enumeration and improving follow-on attack planning. Fix The safe-bin policy was changed to deterministic argv-only validation without host file-existence checks. Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    In affected versions, when applypatch was enabled and the agent ran without filesystem sandbox containment, crafted paths could cause file writes/deletes outside the configured workspace directory. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected: <= 2026.2.13 - Fixed: = 2026.2.14 Details The non-sandbox path resolution in applypatch did not enforce workspace containment. Inputs like ../../... or absolute paths could escape the working directory in non-sandboxed mode. Impact Practical impact depends on deployment and who can trigger tool execution. This is most relevant when tool invocation is exposed to less-trusted callers or when operators expected workspace-only containment. Workarounds - Keep tools.exec.applyPatch.enabled disabled if you do not need applypatch. - Keep tools.exec.applyPatch.workspaceOnly at its secure default of true. - Restrict who can trigger tool execution (and which tools are allowlisted). Affected
    • npm openclaw <= 2026.2.14

    2026.2.15· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    Affected Packages / Versions - npm package: openclaw - Affected versions: <= 2026.2.14 - Fixed version (pre-set): 2026.2.15 Description The sandbox identifier cache key for Docker/browser sandbox configuration used SHA-1 to hash normalized configuration payloads. SHA-1 is deprecated for cryptographic use and has known collision weaknesses. In this code path, deterministic IDs are used to decide whether an existing sandbox container can be reused safely. A collision in this hash could let one configuration be interpreted as another under the same sandbox cache identity, increasing the risk of cache poisoning and unsafe sandbox state reuse. The implementation now uses SHA-256 for these deterministic hashes to restore collision resistance for this security-relevant identifier path. Issue
    The webfetch tool could be used to crash the OpenClaw Gateway process (OOM / resource exhaustion) by fetching and attempting to parse attacker-controlled web pages with oversized response bodies or pathological HTML nesting. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected versions: <= 2026.2.14 - Fixed versions: = 2026.2.15 Impact An attacker can social-engineer a user (or any automation that uses webfetch) into fetching a malicious URL that returns extremely large or deeply nested HTML. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected versions: <= 2026.2.14 - Fixed in: = 2026.2.15 (next release; fix is already merged on main) Details The gateway Control UI HTML response previously injected assistantName and assistantAvatar directly into an inline <script block using JSON.stringify(...). JSON.stringify does not prevent </script from terminating the script element, enabling stored XSS if an operator/admin sets the assistant identity to a malicious string. Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.15
    Fixed in
    2026.2.15· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    normalizeForHash in src/agents/sandbox/config-hash.ts recursively sorted arrays that contained only primitive values. This made order-sensitive sandbox configuration arrays hash to the same value even when order changed. In OpenClaw sandbox flows, this hash is used to decide whether existing sandbox containers should be recreated. As a result, order-only config changes (for example Docker dns and binds array order) could be treated as unchanged and stale containers could be reused. This is a configuration integrity issue affecting sandbox recreation behavior. OpenClaw session tool visibility hardening and Telegram webhook secret fallback

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.15
    Fixed in
    2026.2.15· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    Vulnerability In some shared-agent deployments, OpenClaw session tools (sessionslist, sessionshistory, sessionssend) allowed broader session targeting than some operators intended. This is primarily a configuration/visibility-scoping issue in multi-user environments where peers are not equally trusted. In Telegram webhook mode, monitor startup also did not fall back to per-account webhookSecret when only the account-level secret was configured. Typical Use Case Context Most regular OpenClaw deployments run a single agent, or run in trusted environments. In those setups, practical risk from this issue is generally low. Impact - Shared-agent, multi-user, less-trusted environments: session-tool access could expose transcript content across peer sessions. - Single-agent or trusted environments: practical impact is limited. - Telegram webhook mode: account-level secret wiring could be missed unless an explicit monitor webhook secret override was provided. CVE-2026-28468 · GHSA-h9g4-589h-68xv

    Affected
    • npm openclaw >= 2026.1.29-beta.1, < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    openclaw could start the sandbox browser bridge server without authentication. When the sandboxed browser is enabled, openclaw runs a local (loopback) HTTP bridge that exposes browser control endpoints (for example /profiles, /tabs, /tabs/open, /agent/). Due to missing auth wiring in the sandbox initialization path, that bridge server accepted requests without requiring gateway auth. Impact A local attacker (any process on the same machine) could access the bridge server port and: - enumerate open tabs and retrieve CDP WebSocket URLs - open/close/navigate tabs - execute JavaScript in page contexts via CDP - exfiltrate cookies/session data and page contents from authenticated sessions This is a localhost-only exposure (CVSS AV:L), but provides full browser-session compromise for sandboxed browser usage. Affected Versions - Introduced in: 2026.1.29-beta.1 (first npm release that shipped the sandbox browser bridge) - Affected range: =2026.1.29-beta.1 <2026.2.14 Patched Versions…

    OpenClaw has two SSRF via sendMediaFeishu and markdown image fetching in Feishu extension

    CVE-2026-28451 · GHSA-x22m-j5qq-j49m

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    The Feishu extension could fetch attacker-controlled remote URLs in two paths without SSRF protections: - sendMediaFeishu(mediaUrl) - Feishu DocX markdown image URLs (write/append - image processing) Affected versions - < 2026.2.14 Patched versions - = 2026.2.14 Impact If an attacker can influence tool calls (directly or via prompt injection), they may be able to trigger requests to internal services and re-upload the response as Feishu media. Remediation Upgrade to OpenClaw 2026.2.14 or newer. Notes The fix routes Feishu remote media fetching through hardened runtime helpers that enforce SSRF policies and size limits.

    Recommended action: Upgrade to 2026.2.14 or later, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.

    OpenClaw has a LFI in BlueBubbles media path handling

    CVE-2026-29611 · GHSA-rwj8-p9vq-25gv

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    The BlueBubbles extension accepted attacker-controlled local filesystem paths via mediaPath and could read arbitrary local files from disk before sending them as media attachments. Details When sendBlueBubblesMedia received a non-HTTP media source, the previous implementation resolved it to a local path and read it directly from disk. There was no required allowlist of safe directories, so values like /etc/passwd (or equivalent sensitive paths on other platforms) could be requested and exfiltrated. The fix hardens local media loading by requiring explicit configured roots (channels.bluebubbles.mediaLocalRoots) and by enforcing canonical-path containment checks before reading local files. Paths outside allowed roots are rejected. OpenClaw: Process Safety - Unvalidated PID Kill via SIGKILL in Process Cleanup

    CVE-2026-27486 · GHSA-jfv4-h8mc-jcp8

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    OpenClaw CLI process cleanup used system-wide process enumeration and pattern matching to terminate processes without verifying they were owned by the current OpenClaw process. On shared hosts, unrelated processes could be terminated if they matched the pattern. Affected Packages / Versions - Package: openclaw (npm) - Affected: < 2026.2.14 (including the latest published version 2026.2.13) - Fixed: 2026.2.14 (planned next release) Details The CLI runner cleanup helpers could kill processes matched by command-line patterns without validating process ownership. Fix Process cleanup is now scoped to owned processes only by filtering to direct child PIDs of the current process (ppid == process.pid) before sending signals. Hardening follow-ups: - Prefer graceful termination for resume cleanup (SIGTERM, then SIGKILL fallback). - Reduce false negatives from ps argv truncation by preferring wide output (ps -axww) with a fallback. - Tighten command-line token matching to avoid…

    OpenClaw Chutes manual OAuth state validation bypass can cause credential substitution

    CVE-2026-28477 · GHSA-7rcp-mxpq-72pj

    Affected
    • npm openclaw < 2026.2.14
    Fixed in
    2026.2.14· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    The manual Chutes OAuth login flow could accept attacker-controlled callback input in a way that bypassed OAuth CSRF state validation, potentially resulting in credential substitution. Impact If an attacker can convince a user to paste attacker-provided OAuth callback data during the manual login prompt, OpenClaw may exchange an attacker-obtained authorization code and persist tokens for the wrong Chutes account. The automatic local callback flow is not affected (it validates state in the local HTTP callback handler). Affected Packages / Versions - openclaw (npm): <= 2026.2.13 when using the manual Chutes OAuth login flow. Fix The manual flow now requires the full redirect URL (must include code and state), validates the returned state against the expected value, and rejects code-only pastes.
