The URL restrictions in miniflux-v2 can be bypassed by attackers, leading to an open redirect vulnerability. Details Normally, the redirect URL needs to be validated using IsRelativePath. <img width="1728" height="1386" alt="QQ20260526-175356-26-1" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b481845a-8744-41f7-b27a-526c7ac92e03" / There are some security measures in place, such as requiring relative paths, prohibiting host and schema entries, and rejecting proof-of-concept (PoC) entries like //fushuling.com. However, these measures can still be bypassed. <img width="1911" height="804" alt="QQ20260526-175836-26-2" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/90353c7f-7247-4453-a781-159361de13d6" / For a proof-of-concept (PoC) like /\fushuling.com, it lacks host and netloc fields and doesn't start with //, but during the actual browser redirection, the backslash is automatically parsed as a forward slash, ultimately redirecting to the external address…

Miniflux's media proxy endpoint (GET /proxy/{encodedDigest}/{encodedURL}) can be abused to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). An authenticated user can cause Miniflux to generate a signed proxy URL for attacker-chosen media URLs embedded in feed entry content, including internal addresses (e.g., localhost, private RFC1918 ranges, or link-local metadata endpoints). Requesting the resulting /proxy/... URL makes Miniflux fetch and return the internal response. Details - Vulnerable route: GET /proxy/{encodedDigest}/{encodedURL} (accessible without authentication, but requires a server-generated HMAC-signed URL) - Handler: internal/ui/proxy.go ((handler).mediaProxy) - Trigger: entry content is rewritten to proxy media URLs (e.g., mediaproxy.RewriteDocumentWithAbsoluteProxyURL(...)), producing signed /proxy/... URLs. - Root cause: the proxy validates the URL scheme and HMAC signature, but does not restrict target hosts/IPs. As a result, requests to…

redirecturl is treated as safe when url.Parse(...).IsAbs() is false. Protocol-relative URLs like //ikotaslabs.com have an empty scheme and pass that check, allowing post-login redirects to attacker-controlled sites. Details - url.Parse("//ikotaslabs.com") = empty Scheme, Host="ikotaslabs.com". - IsAbs() returns false for //ikotaslabs.com, so the code treats it as allowed. - Browser resolves //ikotaslabs.com to current-origin scheme (e.g. https://ikotaslabs.com), enabling phishing flows after login. PoC 1. Send or visit: http://localhost/login?redirecturl=//ikotaslabs.com 2. Complete normal login flow. 3. After login the app redirects to https://ikotaslabs.com (or http:// depending on origin). Due to a weak Content Security Policy on the /proxy/ route, an attacker can bypass the CSP of the media proxy and execute cross-site scripting when opening external images in a new tab/window. Impact A malicious feed added to Miniflux can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the user's browser when opening external resources, such as proxified images, in a new tab or window. Mitigation The CSP for the media proxy has been changed from default-src 'self' to default-src 'none'; form-action 'none'; sandbox;. Impact Since v2.0.25, Miniflux will automatically proxy images served over HTTP to prevent mixed content errors. When an outbound request made by the Go HTTP client fails, the html.ServerError is returned unescaped without the expected Content Security Policy header added to valid responses. By creating an RSS feed item with the inline description containing an <img tag with a srcset attribute pointing to an invalid URL like http:a<scriptalert(1)</script, we can coerce the proxy handler into an error condition where the invalid URL is returned unescaped and in full. This results in JavaScript execution on the Miniflux instance as soon as the user is convinced (e.g. by a message in the alt text) to open the broken image. An attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of a victim Miniflux user when they open a broken image in a crafted RSS feed. This can be used to perform actions on the Miniflux instance as that user and gain administrative access to the Miniflux instance…
