    ReDoS in normalize-url

    CVE-2021-33502 · GHSA-px4h-xg32-q955

    Affected
    • npm normalize-url >= 5.0.0, < 5.3.1; >= 6.0.0, < 6.0.1; >= 4.3.0, < 4.5.1
    Fixed in
    4.5.15.3.16.0.1· Vendor fix available
    Issue
    The normalize-url package before 4.5.1, 5.x before 5.3.1, and 6.x before 6.0.1 for Node.js has a ReDoS (regular expression denial of service) issue because it has exponential performance for data: URLs.

    Recommended action: Upgrade to 6.0.1, 5.3.1 or 4.5.1 by release line, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.
