Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
A flaw was found in Keycloak. When revokeRefreshToken=true is enabled and persistent session storage is in use, a server restart can reset internal timing mechanisms. This allows a remote attacker, who has previously captured a user's refresh token, to replay that token even after it has been revoked. Successful exploitation grants the attacker unauthorized access to the victim's account, potentially leading to information disclosure or privilege escalation.

Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Partial vendor fix; fixed versions by package: org.keycloak:keycloak-services 26.6.3. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.keycloak:keycloak-services: affected <= 26.4.7; >= 26.5.0, < 26.6.3; fixed in 26.6.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.keycloak:keycloak-services: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.keycloak:keycloak-services. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-v5g5-wwmp-jppw (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-v5g5-wwmp-jppw lists affected ranges: Maven org.keycloak:keycloak-services >=0 =26.5.0 <26.6.3) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
