Jenkins HTTP Request Plugin stores HTTP Request passwords unencrypted

    CVE-2022-36901 · GHSA-2qh6-hhvv-m2ww

    Affected
    • Maven org.jenkins-ci.plugins:http_request < 1.16
    Fixed in
    1.16· Vendor fix available
    Issue
HTTP Request Plugin 1.15 and earlier stores HTTP Request passwords unencrypted in its global configuration file jenkins.plugins.httprequest.HttpRequest.xml on the Jenkins controller as part of its configuration when using (deprecated) Basic/Digest Authentication. These passwords can be viewed by users with access to the Jenkins controller file system.

Recommended action: Upgrade to 1.16 or later, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.
