Jenkins FitNesse Plugin 1.31 and earlier does not correctly escape report contents before showing them on the Jenkins UI. This results in a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exploitable by users able to control the XML input files processed by the plugin. Jenkins FitNesse Plugin 1.32 escapes content from XML input files before rendering it on the Jenkins UI.
Recommended action: Upgrade to 1.32 or later, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.
FitNesse Plugin 1.30 and earlier does not configure the XML parser to prevent XML external entity (XXE) attacks. This allows a user able to control the input files for its post-build step to have Jenkins parse a crafted file that uses external entities for extraction of secrets from the Jenkins controller, server-side request forgery, or denial-of-service attacks. FitNesse Plugin 1.31 disables external entity processing for its XML parser.
Recommended action: Upgrade to 1.31 or later, then redeploy and verify.A vendor fix does not resolve your finding until you verify it in your own systems.
