Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
@goparrot-dashboard/category is a dependency-confusion probe: it takes a name in a `@goparrot-dashboard` scope that its publisher created on npm, next to GoParrot's public `@goparrot` scope, so a build that resolves that scope from npm gets it instead of a private package of the same name. Version 0.0.1 has no install scripts, and its `index.js` only prints a "[rootxravi-poc-security] @goparrot-dashboard/category" marker when loaded. The npm account devtest91001 published it on 2026-11-01 with 24 other packages in `@goparrot-dashboard` and `@goparrot-dashboard-api`, including @goparrot-dashboard/app, whose 0.0.2 sends the hostname, user and working directory to an interactsh callback host (`iuczektmwpudhwqnsbkgc6m8nx2dgn5vc.oast.fun`) from a preinstall script.

# Patch Next advisory brief: mal-2026-18495 Advisory: Malicious code in @goparrot-dashboard/category (npm) IDs: mal-2026-18495 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/mal-2026-18495 (revision 1, source checked 3 Nov 2026, 06:00 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Unrated Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @goparrot-dashboard/category: affected >= 0.0.1, <= 0.0.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @goparrot-dashboard/category --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @goparrot-dashboard/category. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/MAL-2026-18495 (OSV record MAL-2026-18495 lists affected ranges: npm @goparrot-dashboard/category >=0.0.1 <=0.0.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
