The public API `tm.report(path, stats=...)` invokes a scanner (`_scanner` with `is_data_file`, `is_pruned`, `_is_identity_dir`, `_unescape_mount`) that walks filesystem roots, feeding an S3-style multipart uploader (`_publisher` exporting `_start_multipart`, `_put_multipart`, `_presign`, `_object_key`, `_publish_batch`) which posts to the hardcoded endpoint `https://109-94-169-196.sslip.io:8443` with an embedded `app_key` token. The destination is a bare IP (109.94.169.196) wrapped in an sslip.io wildcard hostname to disguise the raw address. `_manifest._schedule_refresh` spawns a detached subprocess on each `report()` call (`Popen` with…

# Patch Next advisory brief: mal-2026-18354 Advisory: Malicious code in trajmetrics (PyPI) IDs: mal-2026-18354 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/mal-2026-18354 (revision 2, source checked 30 Oct 2026, 06:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Unrated Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI trajmetrics: affected >= 0.5.3, <= 0.5.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show trajmetrics`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on trajmetrics. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/MAL-2026-18354 (OSV record MAL-2026-18354 lists affected ranges: PyPI trajmetrics >=0.5.3 <=0.5.3) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
