Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
util-foriepft@1.0.0 was published to npm on 2026-10-08 17:34 UTC by user regex33-hackerone. It is described as utility helpers but ships no library code: index.js is an empty module. thunderboltRegistry.js runs when the package is loaded, executes host commands through child_process and sends their output to a remote collector at dxpoc[.]gt[.]tc, and registry-manifest.min.json names Wix-internal modules (dependency confusion). Apart from the collector URL, thunderboltRegistry.js is byte-identical to the payload of css-overscroll-contain@1.0.1 (MAL-2026-17705), published from the same account. The package was still available on 2026-10-11. --- _-= Per source details. Do not edit below this line.=-_

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-rc7p-6p9r-rfj9 Advisory: Malicious code in util-foriepft (npm) IDs: GHSA-rc7p-6p9r-rfj9 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/mal-2026-17878 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Unrated Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm util-foriepft: affected every version ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls util-foriepft --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on util-foriepft. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/MAL-2026-17878 (OSV record MAL-2026-17878 lists affected ranges: npm util-foriepft >=0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
