Source: amazon-inspector (657abbbfdd17b21af7ad85e8634e0fb2ac36e35c6b95996322f10584ef4c1570) brass-common@99.9.1 declares its only dependency `ltidisafe` as a direct HTTPS tarball URL (https://ltidi.storage.googleapis.com/depenconf/ltidisafe-3.8.6.tgz) in package.json rather than a registry version range. `npm install` fetches and installs whatever bytes that URL currently returns, with no version pin, no integrity hash, and no registry review, and runs any lifecycle scripts inside that tarball on the installer's machine. The shipped index.js is a 35-byte stub exporting `{}`, so the manifest itself is the entire install-time payload. The implausibly high version number (99.9.1) is consistent with a dependency-confusion shape intended to win resolution against an internal package of the same name.

IDs: GHSA-g6mf-8rwx-xgwh
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/mal-2026-17849 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:40 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Unrated
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm brass-common: affected every version

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls brass-common --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on brass-common.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.

## Sources
- Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/MAL-2026-17849 (OSV record MAL-2026-17849 lists affected ranges: npm brass-common >=0)
