Nuxt: Dev server discloses project absolute path and persistent workspace UUID via /.well-known/appspecific/com.chrome.devtools.json
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (nuxt 4.4.7), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary When running nuxt dev, Nuxt registers an unauthenticated route at /.well-known/appspecific/com.chrome.devtools.json that returns the absolute filesystem path of the project root and a per-project UUID persisted to nodemodules/.cache/nuxt/chrome-workspace.json. The route is enabled by default via experimental.chromeDevtoolsProjectSettings: true. The endpoint exists to let Chrome DevTools' Workspace integration map sources to the developer's local checkout. The handler is registered directly on nitro.options.devHandlers and does not pass through the CORS / origin wrapper that the rest of the dev pipeline uses, so it has no host / origin / Sec-Fetch-Site check of its own. Impact Dev-server only. Production builds do not register the route. Two values are disclosed: - workspace.root: the absolute filesystem path of the project (commonly reveals the OS username and the on-disk project name). - workspace.uuid: a v4 UUID persisted to nodemodules/.cache/nuxt/chrome-workspace.json,…

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq Advisory: Nuxt: Dev server discloses project absolute path and persistent workspace UUID via `/.well-known/appspecific/com.chrome.devtools.json` IDs: GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-rq7w-g337-39qq (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:55 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 2.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: nuxt 4.4.7. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm nuxt: affected >= 4.0.0-alpha.1, < 4.4.7; fixed in 4.4.7 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls nuxt --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on nuxt. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq (OSV record GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq lists affected ranges: npm nuxt >=4.0.0-alpha.1 <4.4.7 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-rq7w-g337-39qq lists affected ranges: npm nuxt >=4.0.0-alpha.1 <4.4.7) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
