arnika is affected by medium-severity issues in UDP rotation, PQC handling, and KMS TLS
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/arnika-project/arnika 1.0.1), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary Three medium-severity issues in arnika affecting the UDP key-rotation protocol, PQC key file handling, and KMS TLS client. All require specific preconditions to exploit and do not allow direct code execution or immediate key extraction. A self-contained PoC is attached. Details 1) ACK timestamp not validated: udpserver.go:185 udpClient() verifies HMAC and packet type but never checks ackPkt.Timestamp. A MITM can capture one ACK, drop all subsequent DATA packets, and replay the stale ACK indefinitely. Primary advances PSK each rotation, backup stays on key 1, tunnel breaks. No PSK knowledge needed. The server side already has this check, the client does not. Fix: mirror the timestamp check already present on the server side. 2) Empty PQC key file silently accepted: repositories/pqc.go:29 os.ReadFile follows symlinks. Empty file to base64.Decode("") = []byte{}, nil. HKDF runs on the QKD key alone while arnika logs [OK] HKDF derivation completed for QKD+PQC key. Requires write…

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-rc6v-5rmx-w5mv Advisory: arnika is affected by medium-severity issues in UDP rotation, PQC handling, and KMS TLS IDs: GHSA-rc6v-5rmx-w5mv Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-rc6v-5rmx-w5mv (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:23 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/arnika-project/arnika 1.0.1. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/arnika-project/arnika: affected <= 1.0.0; fixed in 1.0.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/arnika-project/arnika: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/arnika-project/arnika. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-rc6v-5rmx-w5mv (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-rc6v-5rmx-w5mv lists affected ranges: Go github.com/arnika-project/arnika >=0 <=1.0.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
