What to do
Vendor response not established. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check back for a fix.

Impact Setting lower EVM call gas allows users to partially execute precompiles and error at specific points in the precompile code without reverting the partially written state. If executed on the distribution precompile when claiming funds, it could cause funds to be transferred to a user without resetting the claimable rewards to 0. The vulnerability could also be used to cause indeterministic execution by failing at other points in the code, halting validators. Any evmOS or Cosmos EVM chain using precompiles is affected. Patches The vulnerability was patched by wrapping each precompile execution into an atomic function that reverts any partially committed state on error. - evmos/os patch file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LfC0WSrQOqwTOW3qfaE6t8Jqf1PLVtS/ For chains using a different file structure, you must manually apply the diff: In x/evm/statedb.go: Add the following function: In x/evm/statedb/journal.go: Replace the Revert function with the following: In…

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-mjfq-3qr2-6g84 Advisory: Cosmos EVM Allows Partial Precompile State Writes IDs: GHSA-mjfq-3qr2-6g84 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-mjfq-3qr2-6g84 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:09 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/cosmos/evm: affected >= 0.1.0, <= 0.1.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/cosmos/evm: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/cosmos/evm. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-mjfq-3qr2-6g84 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-mjfq-3qr2-6g84 lists affected ranges: Go github.com/cosmos/evm >=0.1.0 <=0.1.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
