Vulnerable dependency in XTDB connector

GHSA-hwvm-vfw8-93mw

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (org.odpi.egeria:egeria-connector-xtdb 3.5), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Impact The impacted portion of the XTDB connector is its connectivity to S3 as a backing store: this is the only portion of the connector that uses this vulnerable httpclient dependency. Per the description, the vulnerability regards URIs that may be misinterpreted, which given the area of impact within the connector we understand to be any URI used to configure connectivity to S3. Note therefore that if you do not use or configure S3 as a backing store in your use of the connector, you should not be exposed to any vulnerability from this component. Patches The problem has been addressed in version 4.5.13 of the httpclient library, which is included as a replacement dependency version for the build of the XTDB connector from release 3.5 onwards. Therefore, using release 3.5 (or newer) of the connector will include the fixes to address this CVE. Workarounds We have not investigated specific workarounds, but per the description of the issue it seems likely that ensuring the proper URIs…

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-hwvm-vfw8-93mw

Advisory: Vulnerable dependency in XTDB connector
IDs: GHSA-hwvm-vfw8-93mw
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-hwvm-vfw8-93mw (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:53 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.3)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: org.odpi.egeria:egeria-connector-xtdb 3.5. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Maven org.odpi.egeria:egeria-connector-xtdb: affected < 3.5; fixed in 3.5

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Maven org.odpi.egeria:egeria-connector-xtdb: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on org.odpi.egeria:egeria-connector-xtdb.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
