MeshCentral has unsanitized data fields

GHSA-c7hr-448w-65px

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (meshcentral 1.1.60), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Description A rogue or compromised MeshAgent can inject arbitrary HTML/JavaScript via the osdesc (OS description) field in its coreinfo message. The server stores this value with zero HTML sanitization (meshagent.js:1903 only checks typeof == 'string'). When an admin views the device details panel, the value is rendered via addDeviceAttribute() → QH() which sets innerHTML, executing the payload in the admin's browser session. The main management UI CSP includes 'unsafe-inline' (webserver.js:7072), so inline event handlers and script execution are unrestricted. Technical Details Additional unescaped agent fields: - node.name unescaped in sharing dialog (line 4695), user group list (line 18625), permission dialogs (lines 18675, 19413) -- HIGH - cpuinfo.thermals[].InstanceName attribute injection (line 13502) -- MEDIUM - volumes[].name unescaped in file browser (line 12612) -- MEDIUM No server-side defense: CloneSafeNode() strips secrets but not XSS. validateObjectForMongo() only…

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-c7hr-448w-65px

Advisory: MeshCentral has unsanitized data fields
IDs: GHSA-c7hr-448w-65px
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-c7hr-448w-65px (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:01 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.3)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: meshcentral 1.1.60. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm meshcentral: affected < 1.1.60; fixed in 1.1.60

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls meshcentral --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on meshcentral.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.

## Sources
- Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-c7hr-448w-65px (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-c7hr-448w-65px lists affected ranges: npm meshcentral >=0 <1.1.60)
