Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Description TidGi Desktop through 0.13.0 contains a critical remote code execution vulnerability exploitable via a single Git repository import. The vulnerability leverages TiddlyWiki's module system, which automatically discovers and executes JavaScript code embedded in .tid files placed in the wiki's tiddlers/ directory: 1. Auto-loading of .tid files (src/services/wiki/wikiWorker/loadWikiTiddlersWithSubWikis.ts:59-92) — when TidGi boots a wiki workspace, loadWikiTiddlers reads all .tid files from the filesystem and adds them to the wiki store via wiki.addTiddlers(). 2. Automatic module registration (nodemodules/tiddlywiki/boot/boot.js:2564-2565) — defineTiddlerModules() iterates all tiddlers in the store. Any tiddler with a module-type field is passed to $tw.modules.define(), registering it as an executable module. 3. Automatic startup execution (nodemodules/tiddlywiki/boot/boot.js:2572-2634) — all registered modules of type "startup" are collected and their exports.startup()…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-14722

Advisory: TidGi Desktop Remote Code Execution via Malicious TiddlyWiki Repository Import — Tiddler Startup Module Auto-Execution
IDs: CVE-2026-14722, GHSA-9hc2-hjx8-q6pv
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-9hc2-hjx8-q6pv (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:56 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Critical (CVSS 9.6)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm tidgi: affected <= 0.13.0

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls tidgi --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on tidgi.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
