AWS Advanced Go Wrapper: Privilege Escalation in Aurora PostgreSQL Instance
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/pgx-driver 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/xray 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/otlp 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/mysql-driver 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/aws-secrets-manager 1.0.2; 5 more packages under Affected packages), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/pgx-driver 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/xray 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/otlp 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/mysql-driver 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/aws-secrets-manager 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/federated-auth 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/okta 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/auth-helpers 1.0.2; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/awssql 1.1.1; github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/iam 1.0.2. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/pgx-driver: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/xray: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/otlp: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/mysql-driver: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/aws-secrets-manager: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/federated-auth: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/okta: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/auth-helpers: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/awssql: affected < 1.1.1; fixed in 1.1.1 - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/iam: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/pgx-driver: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/xray: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/otlp: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/mysql-driver: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/aws-secrets-manager: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/federated-auth: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/okta: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/auth-helpers: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/awssql: check the installed version with your package manager. - Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/iam: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/pgx-driver, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/xray, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/otlp, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/mysql-driver, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/aws-secrets-manager, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/federated-auth, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/okta, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/auth-helpers, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/awssql, github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/iam. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-7wq2-32h4-9hc9 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-7wq2-32h4-9hc9 lists affected ranges: Go github.com/aws/aws-advanced-go-wrapper/awssql >=0 =0 =0 =0 =0 =0 <1.0.2; Go…) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
