What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (froxlor/froxlor 2.2.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary In Froxlor 2.1.9 and in the HEADs of the main, v2.2 and v2.1 branches , the XML templates in lib/configfiles/ set chmod 644 for /etc/pure-ftpd/db/mysql.conf, although that file contains <SQLUNPRIVILEGEDPASSWORD. At least on Debian 12, all parent directories of /etc/pure-ftpd/db/mysql.conf are world readable by default, thus exposing these credentials to all users with access to the system. Only Froxlor instances configured to use pure-ftpd are affected/vulnerable. Details https://github.com/froxlor/Froxlor/blob/2.1.9/lib/configfiles/bookworm.xml#L3075 PoC As non-privileged user: Impact Any unprivileged user with "command/code execution" access to the system can trivially obtain the credentials granting access to the froxlor MySQL database. This holds true even for virtual users without SSH access as long as they are able to upload their own PHP scripts or other CGIs, and works even if the admin has setup a separate php-fpm pool that runs as their own user. Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: froxlor/froxlor 2.2.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Packagist froxlor/froxlor: affected <= 2.2.0-rc3; fixed in 2.2.0

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Packagist froxlor/froxlor: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on froxlor/froxlor.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.

## Sources
- Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-34qg-65m4-f23m (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-34qg-65m4-f23m lists affected ranges: Packagist froxlor/froxlor >=0 <=2.2.0-rc3)

Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
