Reflected XSS in Gotify's /docs via import of outdated Swagger UI
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/gotify/server 2.2.3), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Impact Gotify exposes an outdated instance of the Swagger UI API documentation frontend at /docs which is susceptible to reflected XSS attacks when loading external Swagger config files. Specifically, the DOMPurify version included with this version of Swagger UI is vulnerable to a rendering XSS incorporating the mutation payload detailed in CVE-2020-26870 which was patched in 2021. This is further tracked in the GitHub Advisory Database as GHSA-QRMM-W75W-3WPX. An attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript and potentially take over the account of the user that clicked the link. Keep in mind, the Gotify UI won't natively expose such a malicious link, so an attacker has to get the user to open the malicious link in a context outside of Gotify. Patches The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.2.3. References https://github.com/gotify/server/pull/541

# Patch Next advisory brief: GHSA-3244-8mff-w398 Advisory: Reflected XSS in Gotify's /docs via import of outdated Swagger UI IDs: GHSA-3244-8mff-w398 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/ghsa-3244-8mff-w398 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:55 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Unrated Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/gotify/server 2.2.3. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/gotify/server: affected <= 2.2.2; fixed in 2.2.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/gotify/server: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/gotify/server. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-3244-8mff-w398 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-3244-8mff-w398 lists affected ranges: Go github.com/gotify/server >=0 <=2.2.2) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
