mcp-atlassian has an incomplete SSRF remediation

CVE-2026-77267GHSA-5wf4-jqxh-8gm3

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (mcp-atlassian 0.22.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary The UserTokenMiddleware extracts URLs from X-Atlassian-Jira-Url and X-Atlassian-Confluence-Url HTTP headers and passes them directly to API client constructors without any SSRF validation. Affected Package - Ecosystem: PyPI - Package: mcp-atlassian - Affected versions: all versions before fix commit 5cd697dfce91 - Patched versions: = commit 5cd697dfce91 Details In main.py, processauthenticationheaders() extracts URLs from ASGI headers without validation. In dependencies.py, getjirafetcher() creates JiraConfig with url=jiraurlheader directly. There is no validateurl call, no IP range check, no hostname validation. The fix adds URL validation to some paths but the header-based URL extraction in processauthenticationheaders() still passes raw URLs through. The derived config objects use the header URL directly and the fetcher makes HTTP requests to that URL. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-77267

Advisory: mcp-atlassian has an incomplete SSRF remediation
IDs: CVE-2026-77267, GHSA-5wf4-jqxh-8gm3
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-77267 (revision 4, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:54 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.3)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: mcp-atlassian 0.22.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- PyPI mcp-atlassian: affected < 0.22.0; fixed in 0.22.0

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `python -m pip show mcp-atlassian`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on mcp-atlassian.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
