Budibase: SSRF via bare fetch() in uploadUrl during AI table generation Summary The uploadUrl() function in packages/server/src/utilities/fileUtils.ts uses a bare fetch(url) call without any SSRF protection. This function is invoked when the AI table generation feature processes LLM-generated attachment column values that are strings (URLs). A builder-level user can craft prompts that cause the LLM to generate internal IP addresses or cloud metadata endpoints as attachment URLs. When generateRows() calls processAttachments(), these URLs are fetched server-side without blacklist validation, allowing the attacker to reach internal services, cloud metadata APIs (169.254.169.254), or other network-internal resources. This is a variant of the same class of issue addressed in other Budibase code paths where fetchWithBlacklist() is correctly used to prevent SSRF. Affected Versions <= 3.39.0 (current lerna.json version at time of analysis) Vulnerability Details Root Cause: uploadUrl() uses…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-73307 Advisory: Budibase: SSRF via bare fetch() in uploadUrl during AI table generation IDs: CVE-2026-73307, GHSA-hfhx-w8p8-4hc7 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-73307 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:01 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 4.9) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @budibase/server: affected <= 3.38.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @budibase/server --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @budibase/server. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hfhx-w8p8-4hc7 (OSV record GHSA-hfhx-w8p8-4hc7 lists affected ranges: npm @budibase/server >=0 <=3.38.1) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-hfhx-w8p8-4hc7 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-hfhx-w8p8-4hc7 lists affected ranges: npm @budibase/server >=0 <=3.38.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
