Kestra: Unauthenticated management/actuator endpoints exposed on port 8081 (/env, /loggers) bypass API basic-auth
CVE-2026-73245GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (io.kestra:kestra 2.0.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

Summary Kestra's Micronaut management endpoints are served on port 8081 with no authentication, even when the main API (port 8080) has basic-auth enabled. Anyone who can reach :8081 can read GET /env (full resolved environment/configuration) and mutate runtime state via POST /loggers/{name} (change log levels), among the other management endpoints. Enabling basic-auth creates a false sense of protection because the auth filter only covers /api/v1/ on 8080 and never applies to the 8081 management port. The shipped repository contains no statement that 8081 is management-only / must-not-be-exposed, and the vendor's reference docker-compose.yml publishes it with no warning. Affected - Product: Kestra (kestra-io/kestra), an open-source orchestration/data-pipeline platform (Java / Micronaut). - Version: v1.3.29 (confirmed); the management-port exposure is an insecure default of the shipped configuration. - No fix at time of report. Technical detail Kestra runs the Micronaut…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-73245 Advisory: Kestra: Unauthenticated management/actuator endpoints exposed on port 8081 (/env, /loggers) bypass API basic-auth IDs: CVE-2026-73245, GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-73245 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:55 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: io.kestra:kestra 2.0.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven io.kestra:kestra: affected < 2.0.0; fixed in 2.0.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven io.kestra:kestra: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on io.kestra:kestra. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7 (OSV record GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7 lists affected ranges: Maven io.kestra:kestra >=0 <2.0.0 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-hpj9-grjp-7vc7 lists affected ranges: Maven io.kestra:kestra >=0 <2.0.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
