Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary There is a medium-severity cross-provider reference vulnerability in Traefik's Kubernetes CRD provider. The crossProviderNamespaces allowlist is enforced for HTTP serversTransport references but was not enforced for IngressRouteTCP service serversTransport references. A low-privileged Kubernetes user in a namespace that is not listed in crossProviderNamespaces could set serversTransport: foo@file on an IngressRouteTCP service, causing Traefik to accept the forbidden cross-provider reference and use the file-provider TCPServersTransport — including privileged backend mTLS client certificates, SPIFFE identity, or PROXY-protocol settings. The fix applies the crossProviderNamespaces allowlist to TCP serversTransport references. ## Affected components
- Go github.com/traefik/traefik/v3: affected >= 3.6.0, <= 3.6.22; >= 3.7.0, <= 3.7.6; fixed in 3.7.7, 3.6.23
- Go github.com/traefik/traefik/v2: affected every version
- Go github.com/traefik/traefik: affected every version

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/traefik/traefik/v3: check the installed version with your package manager.
- Go github.com/traefik/traefik/v2: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/traefik/traefik/v3, github.com/traefik/traefik/v2, github.com/traefik/traefik.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
