SurrealDB: Authorization Bypass in KILL Statement Allows Termination of Other Users' Live Queries
CVE-2026-63758GHSA-gcwr-5mrf-fvch
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (surrealdb 3.1.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
The KILL statement is used to terminate LIVE SELECT subscriptions that capture real-time changes to data within a table. The KILL statement implementation in core/src/expr/statements/kill.rs verifies that the requesting user has database-level access, but does not verify that the requesting user is the owner of the live query being terminated. After passing the validfordb() check, the KILL statement resolves the live query UUID, looks up the corresponding live query entry, and immediately deletes it without comparing the requesting user's identity against the live query owner. This allows any authenticated user with database-level access to terminate any live query in that database, regardless of who created it. The affected user's real-time subscription silently stops receiving updates with no notification that the live query was terminated. The same attack works across privilege levels: a low-privilege record-scoped user can terminate a root user's monitoring live queries. This…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-63758 Advisory: SurrealDB: Authorization Bypass in KILL Statement Allows Termination of Other Users' Live Queries IDs: CVE-2026-63758, GHSA-gcwr-5mrf-fvch Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-63758 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:43 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.4) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: surrealdb 3.1.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - crates.io surrealdb: affected < 3.1.0; fixed in 3.1.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - crates.io surrealdb: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on surrealdb. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-gcwr-5mrf-fvch (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-gcwr-5mrf-fvch lists affected ranges: crates.io surrealdb >=0 <3.1.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
