Nuxt OG Image has unauthenticated SSRF via fonts[].path URL parameter

CVE-2026-61793GHSA-q8hw-4fvp-9rwv

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (nuxt-og-image 6.7.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary nuxt-og-image exposes an unauthenticated HTTP endpoint at /og/d/ that base64url-decodes and JSON.parses a fonts URL segment, then passes each fonts[i].path value directly into fetch() server-side without any URL validation (no scheme allowlist, no loopback/RFC1918 block, no host allowlist, no DNS rebinding mitigation). Under the module's documented default configuration (security.strict = false, security.secret = "", restrictRuntimeImagesToOrigin = false), any caller able to reach the deployed Nuxt site can force the Nuxt server to issue arbitrary outbound GET requests to any host reachable from the server - including loopback, RFC1918 LAN, and cloud metadata services (AWS IMDS, GCE/Azure metadata, Kubernetes kubelet, internal admin panels, Redis/etcd/Consul/Vault HTTP APIs). The chain is blind (Satori consumes the response as font bytes and silently discards non-fonts) but a robust side-channel exists: the outer HTTP status is 500 when the SSRF target returns 2xx, and 200…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-61793

Advisory: Nuxt OG Image has unauthenticated SSRF via `fonts[].path` URL parameter
IDs: CVE-2026-61793, GHSA-q8hw-4fvp-9rwv
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-61793 (revision 4, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:02 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.9)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: nuxt-og-image 6.7.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm nuxt-og-image: affected >= 6.0.2, < 6.7.0; fixed in 6.7.0

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls nuxt-og-image --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on nuxt-og-image.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
