CVE-2026-61612GHSA-798p-78g2-v556
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (@aborruso/ckan-mcp-server 0.4.108), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary The SSRF guard validateServerUrl (added for CVE-2026-33060, extended for CVE-2026-53509) validates only the hostname string and never resolves DNS. Any caller-supplied serverurl whose hostname resolves to an internal address passes the guard, so the server issues requests to loopback and cloud metadata (169.254.169.254). This is a third bypass of the same guard, still present in the current latest 0.4.107, and it reaches IMDS — strictly more than CVE-2026-53509, which only reached loopback. Affected / patched - @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server (npm) — all versions with the guard, through 0.4.107 (current latest). The guard has never resolved DNS. No patch yet. Severity It is effectively High for the self-hosted unauthenticated HTTP transport (TRANSPORT=http, POST /mcp), where any remote client reaches IMDS/internal hosts directly. The official Cloudflare Worker endpoint is CF-sandboxed (cannot reach loopback/RFC-1918/IMDS). Root cause — src/utils/http.ts, validateServerUrl The guard…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-61612 Advisory: @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server has SSRF via DNS-name → internal IP — incomplete fix of CVE-2026-53509 IDs: CVE-2026-61612, GHSA-798p-78g2-v556 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-61612 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:02 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server 0.4.108. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server: affected <= 0.4.107; fixed in 0.4.108 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-798p-78g2-v556 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-798p-78g2-v556 lists affected ranges: npm @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server >=0 <=0.4.107) - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-798p-78g2-v556 (OSV record GHSA-798p-78g2-v556 lists affected ranges: npm @aborruso/ckan-mcp-server >=0 <0.4.108 (fixed)) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
