SiYuan: MCP file tool's blocklist is incomplete relative to the HTTP file API it claims to align with, exposing publish-mode passwords and other sensitive workspace files

CVE-2026-60083GHSA-c8r8-95hg-mp34

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/kernel 0.0.0-20260808051406-3542530c505f), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary `kernel/mcp/tools/file.go`'s `resolvePath()` includes an explicit comment stating its sensitive-path blocklist is meant to align with the HTTP file API's established blacklist (`refuseToAccess()` in `kernel/api/file.go`), following the remediation for GHSA-cvhv-7xhj-xjp8 ("Unauthenticated Administrator takeover exfiltrated via the MCP"), which specifically recommended restricting this tool's scope. In practice, the MCP tool implements only 1 of the 4 static blocklist entries the HTTP API enforces.

Comparison `kernel/api/file.go` `refuseToAccess()` blocks: 1. `conf/conf.json` (API token, cookie signing key, accessAuthCode) 2. `data/snippets/conf.json` 3. the entire `data/templates` directory 4. `data/.siyuan/publishAccess.json` 5. (dynamic, per-request) any path the current publish-mode session isn't authorized for `kernel/mcp/tools/file.go` `resolvePath()` blocks only: ```go confPath := filepath.Join(util.ConfDir, "conf.json") if abs == confPath { return "",…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-60083

Advisory: SiYuan: MCP file tool's blocklist is incomplete relative to the HTTP file API it claims to align with, exposing publish-mode passwords and other sensitive workspace files
IDs: CVE-2026-60083, GHSA-c8r8-95hg-mp34
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-60083 (revision 2, source checked 28 Oct 2026, 06:30 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 4.9)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/kernel 0.0.0-20260808051406-3542530c505f. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/kernel: affected < 0.0.0-20260808051406-3542530c505f; fixed in 0.0.0-20260808051406-3542530c505f

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/kernel: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/kernel.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
