Identrail Cross-tenant IDOR: Client-supplied GitHub App installation_id is bound to the caller's workspace without ownership verification

CVE-2026-59185GHSA-cp3j-m783-3ph5

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/identrail/identrail 1.0.2), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary identrail's GitHub App connection-completion endpoint binds a fully client-supplied installationid to the caller's workspace without verifying that the installation belongs to, or was installed by, the workspace that initiated the connect flow. identrail then mints a GitHub App installation access token for the supplied installationid using the app's own JWT, so an authenticated tenant can link any other identrail customer's GitHub App installation into their own workspace and read that victim organization's private repositories. Affected code (default-on path, no feature flag) - Route: internal/api/router.go:3590 — POST /v1/workspaces/:workspaceid/projects/:projectid/github/connect/complete. installationid is read from the JSON body or the attacker-controlled X-GitHub-Installation-ID header (router.go:3582-3588). - Service: internal/api/githubconnect.go:781 CompleteGitHubConnection. The state token IS rigorously bound to the caller's scope (githubconnect.go:818: if…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-59185

Advisory: Identrail Cross-tenant IDOR: Client-supplied GitHub App installation_id is bound to the caller's workspace without ownership verification
IDs: CVE-2026-59185, GHSA-cp3j-m783-3ph5
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-59185 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:29 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.5)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/identrail/identrail 1.0.2. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/identrail/identrail: affected < 1.0.2; fixed in 1.0.2

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/identrail/identrail: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/identrail/identrail.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
