OpenRun: Redirect URL validation bypass using //host paths leads to Open Redirect
CVE-2026-55252GHSA-h5g6-xmh4-hc37
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/openrundev/openrun 0.17.7), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary The restrictions on redirect URLs in openrun can be bypassed by attackers, leading to open redirect attacks. Details In the current project, the referrer header value is used for subsequent redirects, so there is currently a validation for this redirect value. The current validation logic requires that the host and schema of the redirect URL be the same as the current website's URL, and finally, the path part is used for redirection. This check seems robust, but it can still be bypassed by attackers. <img width="1606" height="1346" alt="QQ20260602-140205-2-2" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/83c549f3-38d7-444d-90f0-131d806f67ff" / Here's the problem: Assuming the current website is http://127.0.0.1:25222/, if the attacker passes in a redirect URL of http://127.0.0.1:25222//fushuling.com, its host and schema are obviously the same as the current website, thus bypassing the verification. However, the issue lies in the final redirect URL, which is the path part of…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-55252 Advisory: OpenRun: Redirect URL validation bypass using //host paths leads to Open Redirect IDs: CVE-2026-55252, GHSA-h5g6-xmh4-hc37 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-55252 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:24 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.1) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/openrundev/openrun 0.17.7. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/openrundev/openrun: affected < 0.17.7; fixed in 0.17.7 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/openrundev/openrun: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/openrundev/openrun. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-h5g6-xmh4-hc37 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-h5g6-xmh4-hc37 lists affected ranges: Go github.com/openrundev/openrun >=0 <0.17.7) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
