@tinacms/cli: Remote Code Execution in @tinacms/cli via Forestry migration — unsanitised __TINA_INTERNAL__ marker in user-controlled YAML labels
CVE-2026-54074GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (@tinacms/cli 2.4.3), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Description Summary @tinacms/cli contains a Remote Code Execution vulnerability in its Forestry-to-Tina migration command. The internal helper addVariablesToCode unquotes any value matching the marker "TINAINTERNAL:::(.?):::" inside the stringified collection JSON. User-supplied label and name fields from .forestry//.yml are placed into that JSON without any sanitisation. An attacker who controls a Forestry-style project can therefore inject arbitrary JavaScript into the generated tina/templates.{ts,js} file. The injected code is written at module top level, so it executes the moment the developer runs tinacms dev or tinacms build, with the developer's privileges. Details Vulnerable code path: 1. packages/@tinacms/cli/src/cmds/forestry-migrate/util/index.ts — transformForestryFieldsToTinaFields() writes forestryField.label (and .name) straight into TinaField objects (no sanitisation). 2. packages/@tinacms/cli/src/cmds/forestry-migrate/util/codeTransformer.ts, lines 16-22 — the…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-54074 Advisory: @tinacms/cli: Remote Code Execution in @tinacms/cli via Forestry migration — unsanitised __TINA_INTERNAL__ marker in user-controlled YAML labels IDs: CVE-2026-54074, GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-54074 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:56 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.8) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: @tinacms/cli 2.4.3. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @tinacms/cli: affected < 2.4.3; fixed in 2.4.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @tinacms/cli --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @tinacms/cli. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw (OSV record GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw lists affected ranges: npm @tinacms/cli >=0 <2.4.3 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-4936-9hrh-qqpw lists affected ranges: npm @tinacms/cli >=0 <2.4.3) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
