Radius Controller May Delete a Container Resource via an Injected Deployment Annotation (Multi-Tenant Installs)
CVE-2026-53999GHSA-fp5j-4fj2-4jvq
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/radius-project/radius 0.58.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Radius Controller May Delete a Container Resource via an Injected Deployment Annotation (Multi-Tenant Installs) Summary A configuration-validation issue in the Radius Kubernetes controller can cause it to issue a DELETE for the container resource referenced by a tampered radapp.io/status annotation on a Deployment. It follows the "Confused Deputy" pattern. Real-world impact is bounded and depends heavily on install topology: in a multi-tenant install (one controller reconciling Deployments across resource groups owned by different teams) it can affect another team's container, while in a single-tenant install it is only self-DoS. There is no data disclosure, no privilege escalation, and no persistence, and deleted resources are recoverable through standard Radius deployment workflows. - Vulnerability Type: Configuration Injection / Cross-Tenant Resource Deletion - CVSS 3.1 Score: 7.7 (High in worst-case multi-tenant installs; Medium or lower in single-tenant or strict-RBAC installs)…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-53999 Advisory: Radius Controller May Delete a Container Resource via an Injected Deployment Annotation (Multi-Tenant Installs) IDs: CVE-2026-53999, GHSA-fp5j-4fj2-4jvq Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-53999 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:23 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/radius-project/radius 0.58.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/radius-project/radius: affected < 0.58.0; fixed in 0.58.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/radius-project/radius: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/radius-project/radius. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-fp5j-4fj2-4jvq (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-fp5j-4fj2-4jvq lists affected ranges: Go github.com/radius-project/radius >=0 <0.58.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
