Steeltoe's sensitive actuators (heapdump/env) only require Restricted permission
CVE-2026-50201GHSA-227r-jm2g-7cp4
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (steeltoe.management.endpoint 4.2.0; steeltoe.management.endpointbase 3.4.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

Summary All Steeltoe actuator endpoints default to EndpointPermissions.Restricted, which is mapped to Cloud Foundry's readbasicdata permission (granted to Space Auditors and similar low-trust roles). Sensitive actuators including heap dump, environment, and thread dump do not raise this to EndpointPermissions.Full, so CF's readsensitivedata permission flag is not enforced for those endpoints. Spring Boot's equivalent Cloud Foundry integration gates these endpoints with readsensitivedata by default. Impact Any CF user holding Space Auditor, Space Manager, or Org Auditor role can access the heap dump, environment, and thread dump actuators for any Steeltoe application in their space. A heap dump contains all in-memory data including database passwords, bearer tokens, and VCAPSERVICES credentials. CF's readsensitivedata permission, which is specifically designed to gate this access, has no effect. Affected configuration - Application is deployed on Cloud Foundry with CF actuator and…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-50201 Advisory: Steeltoe's sensitive actuators (heapdump/env) only require Restricted permission IDs: CVE-2026-50201, GHSA-227r-jm2g-7cp4 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-50201 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 17:04 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: steeltoe.management.endpoint 4.2.0; steeltoe.management.endpointbase 3.4.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - NuGet steeltoe.management.endpoint: affected <= 4.1.0; fixed in 4.2.0 - NuGet steeltoe.management.endpointbase: affected <= 3.3.0; fixed in 3.4.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - NuGet steeltoe.management.endpoint: check the installed version with your package manager. - NuGet steeltoe.management.endpointbase: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on steeltoe.management.endpoint, steeltoe.management.endpointbase. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-227r-jm2g-7cp4 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-227r-jm2g-7cp4 lists affected ranges: NuGet steeltoe.management.endpoint >=0 =0 <=3.3.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
