Subsonic API: any authenticated user can delete or read any other user's playlist (IDOR)
CVE-2026-49338GHSA-hmgp-w9jm-vp95
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (go.senan.xyz/gonic 0.21.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

Summary In gonic, the Subsonic API endpoints /rest/deletePlaylist.view and /rest/getPlaylist.view perform no per-resource authorization. Once authenticated as any user (admin or not), an attacker can: 1. Delete any playlist owned by any other user (including admin) by passing its id. 2. Read the full contents (name, comment, song list) of any other user's private (non-public) playlist by passing its id. The Subsonic playlist id is base64url("<userID/<filename.m3u"). Because filenames are user-supplied or time-derived and the userID is a small integer, IDs are guessable and frequently exposed (e.g. a previously-public playlist that was later made private still has the same ID). This breaks the multi-user trust boundary of gonic: a low-privileged user can wipe an administrator's curated playlists, and a user can exfiltrate any private playlist they obtain an ID for. Status This was originally disclosed to the maintainer by email and has been fixed in commit…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-49338 Advisory: Subsonic API: any authenticated user can delete or read any other user's playlist (IDOR) IDs: CVE-2026-49338, GHSA-hmgp-w9jm-vp95 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-49338 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:24 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.1) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: go.senan.xyz/gonic 0.21.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go go.senan.xyz/gonic: affected <= 0.20.1; fixed in 0.21.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go go.senan.xyz/gonic: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on go.senan.xyz/gonic. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-hmgp-w9jm-vp95 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-hmgp-w9jm-vp95 lists affected ranges: Go go.senan.xyz/gonic >=0 <=0.20.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
