php-weasyprint: shell command injection via configurable WeasyPrint binary path due to inverted is_executable() guard (mirror of KnpLabs/snappy GHSA-vpr4-p6fq-85jc)
CVE-2026-49260GHSA-f5gc-qxf8-mh9g
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (pontedilana/php-weasyprint 2.5.1), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary pontedilana/php-weasyprint builds the shell command for WeasyPrint by passing the binary path through escapeshellarg() first and then checking the quoted result with isexecutable(). On POSIX escapeshellarg('/usr/local/bin/weasyprint') returns '/usr/local/bin/weasyprint' with the single-quote characters as part of the string, so isexecutable() looks for a file whose actual name includes those quotes. That file never exists, the "safe" branch is dead code, and the raw $binary string (set via the constructor or setBinary()) flows directly into Symfony\Component\Process\Process::fromShellCommandline(). Any deployment whose binary path is sourced from configuration, an environment variable, or a per-tenant setting reaches a shell-command-injection sink. The library is documented as a one-to-one substitute for KnpLabs/snappy and inherited the exact pre-fix codepath KnpLabs patched in GHSA-vpr4-p6fq-85jc (Snappy 1.7.1). Affected versions pontedilana/php-weasyprint versions <= 2.5.0…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-49260 Advisory: php-weasyprint: shell command injection via configurable WeasyPrint binary path due to inverted is_executable() guard (mirror of KnpLabs/snappy GHSA-vpr4-p6fq-85jc) IDs: CVE-2026-49260, GHSA-f5gc-qxf8-mh9g Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-49260 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:49 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.2) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: pontedilana/php-weasyprint 2.5.1. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist pontedilana/php-weasyprint: affected <= 2.5.0; fixed in 2.5.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist pontedilana/php-weasyprint: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on pontedilana/php-weasyprint. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-f5gc-qxf8-mh9g (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-f5gc-qxf8-mh9g lists affected ranges: Packagist pontedilana/php-weasyprint >=0 <=2.5.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
