twig/intl-extra: Unbounded formatter memoisation in keyed on template-controlled arguments
CVE-2026-46629GHSA-35wc-cvqg-78fp
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (twig/intl-extra 3.26.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Description IntlExtension memoises every \IntlDateFormatter and \NumberFormatter it creates in instance-level arrays keyed on a hash that includes locale, pattern, attrs and other values that are ordinary named arguments of the formatdatetime / formatdate / formattime / formatnumber / formatcurrency filters. There is no size limit and no eviction. A template that iterates over many distinct pattern (or locale, or groupingused, ...) values therefore allocates one ICU formatter object per distinct value and pins it for the entire lifetime of the Twig\Environment. Because ICU allocates its backing buffers outside the Zend memory manager, this growth is not bounded by memorylimit. On long-running runtimes (RoadRunner, Swoole, FrankenPHP worker mode, ReactPHP) where the Environment outlives a single request, the cache also accumulates across requests. Resolution The formatter caches are now bounded in size (100 entries each) and evict on a FIFO basis. Credits Twig would like to thank…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-46629 Advisory: twig/intl-extra: Unbounded formatter memoisation in keyed on template-controlled arguments IDs: CVE-2026-46629, GHSA-35wc-cvqg-78fp Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-46629 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 2.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: twig/intl-extra 3.26.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist twig/intl-extra: affected < 3.26.0; fixed in 3.26.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist twig/intl-extra: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on twig/intl-extra. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-35wc-cvqg-78fp (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-35wc-cvqg-78fp lists affected ranges: Packagist twig/intl-extra >=0 <3.26.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
