Pimcore: Missing Authorization in WebDAV MOVE via unchecked asset move handling

CVE-2026-45260GHSA-wc7j-g8wx-m2qx

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (pimcore/pimcore 2026.1.3, 12.3.7, 11.5.17), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary Pimcore's WebDAV asset endpoint exposes a MOVE operation through /asset/webdav{path} without adding an authentication plugin in the WebDAV controller. The Tree::move() implementation then performs asset mutation and deletion before checking a current Pimcore user or any asset permissions. An unauthenticated remote attacker who knows two existing asset paths in the same directory can send a WebDAV MOVE request that deletes the source asset. Authenticated low-privileged users may also be able to perform unauthorized asset move or overwrite operations because the move path does not enforce rename, delete, create, or publish permissions. Details The route for WebDAV is globally registered and accepts arbitrary trailing paths: The controller constructs a SabreDAV server but only attaches lock and browser plugins. It does not attach an authentication plugin or perform an explicit user/session check before starting the server: Most WebDAV file and folder operations perform…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-45260

IDs: CVE-2026-45260, GHSA-wc7j-g8wx-m2qx
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-45260 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:50 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.1)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: pimcore/pimcore 2026.1.3, 12.3.7, 11.5.17. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Packagist pimcore/pimcore: affected >= 12.0.0-RC1, <= 12.3.6; >= 2026.1.0, < 2026.1.3; <= 11.5.16; fixed in 2026.1.3, 12.3.7, 11.5.17

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Packagist pimcore/pimcore: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on pimcore/pimcore.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
