ZITADEL has LDAP Filter Injection in Login Flow

CVE-2026-44671GHSA-rxvx-hhpj-q6px

What to do

Partial vendor fix. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check back for a fix.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary A vulnerability was discovered in Zitadel's LDAP identity provider implementation, which fails to properly escape user-provided usernames before incorporating them into LDAP search filters. This allows unauthenticated attackers to perform LDAP Filter Injection during the login process. Impact While this vulnerability does not allow for a full authentication bypass, an attacker can use LDAP metacharacters (such as , (, )) to perform blind LDAP injection. By observing the different failure (or success) responses, an attacker can systematically enumerate valid usernames and extract sensitive attribute data from the connected LDAP directory. Note that an authentication bypass is not possible. Affected Versions Systems integrating LDAP as IdPs and running one of the following versions are affected: - 4.x: 4.0.0 through 4.14.0 (including RC versions) - 3.x: 3.1.0 through 3.4.9 - 2.x: 2.71.11 through 2.71.19 Patches The vulnerability has been addressed in the latest releases. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-44671

Advisory: ZITADEL has LDAP Filter Injection in Login Flow
IDs: CVE-2026-44671, GHSA-rxvx-hhpj-q6px
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-44671 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:22 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 7.5)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Partial vendor fix; fixed versions by package: github.com/zitadel/zitadel 4.15.0, 3.4.10. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/zitadel/zitadel: affected >= 4.0.0, <= 4.14.0; >= 2.71.11, <= 2.71.19; >= 3.1.0, <= 3.4.9; fixed in 4.15.0, 3.4.10

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/zitadel/zitadel: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/zitadel/zitadel.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
