Admidio has CSRF on Admin Preferences that Triggers Unauthorized Backup, .htaccess Write, and Email Send
CVE-2026-41663GHSA-rw74-vc9h-534j
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (admidio/admidio 5.0.9), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary Several administrative operations in Admidio's preferences module (database backup, test email, htaccess generation) fire via GET requests with no CSRF token validation. Because SameSite=Lax cookies travel with top-level GET navigations, an attacker forces an authenticated admin to trigger these actions from a malicious page. Details In modules/preferences.php, the backup, testemail, and htaccess modes accept GET parameters with no CSRF token check: The save mode in the same file validates CSRF via getFormObject(), confirming the developers intended CSRF protection but did not apply it to these other modes. Because these are GET requests, SameSite=Lax browsers include session cookies on top-level cross-origin navigations, making CSRF exploitation trivial. Proof of Concept Simplified attacker page (csrf.html hosted on attacker origin): When an administrator visits this page, the browser navigates to the Admidio backup URL with full session cookies. The server generates a…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-41663 Advisory: Admidio has CSRF on Admin Preferences that Triggers Unauthorized Backup, .htaccess Write, and Email Send IDs: CVE-2026-41663, GHSA-rw74-vc9h-534j Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-41663 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 3.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: admidio/admidio 5.0.9. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist admidio/admidio: affected <= 5.0.8; fixed in 5.0.9 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist admidio/admidio: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on admidio/admidio. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-rw74-vc9h-534j (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-rw74-vc9h-534j lists affected ranges: Packagist admidio/admidio >=0 <=5.0.8) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
