Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary This advisory covers the deprecated fabric-sdk-java client SDK. Channel.java implements readObject() and exposes deSerializeChannel() which call ObjectInputStream.readObject() on untrusted byte arrays without configuring an ObjectInputFilter. This is the classic Java deserialization RCE pattern. Note: fabric-sdk-java is deprecated and maintained in https://github.com/hyperledger/fabric-sdk-java. Filing here as that repo does not have private vulnerability reporting enabled. Affected Code Attack Vector An attacker who can supply crafted serialized Channel bytes to the client application — for example, by compromising a local channel file, injecting data through an application that accepts Channel bytes from external sources, or exploiting a separate write primitive — can achieve RCE via gadget chain exploitation when deSerializeChannel() processes those bytes. The risk is highest in deployments that accept Channel data from sources outside the client's direct control. Note:…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-41586 Advisory: fabric-sdk-java has ObjectInputStream.readObject() without ObjectInputFilter, which allows Java deserialization RCE IDs: CVE-2026-41586, GHSA-prf8-cf2x-rhx7 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-41586 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:45 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Critical (CVSS 9.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.hyperledger.fabric-sdk-java:fabric-sdk-java: affected >= 1.0.0, <= 2.2.26 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.hyperledger.fabric-sdk-java:fabric-sdk-java: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.hyperledger.fabric-sdk-java:fabric-sdk-java. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-prf8-cf2x-rhx7 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-prf8-cf2x-rhx7 lists affected ranges: Maven org.hyperledger.fabric-sdk-java:fabric-sdk-java >=1.0.0 <=2.2.26) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
