Froxlor has an Email Sender Alias Domain Ownership Bypass via Wrong Array Index Allows Cross-Customer Email Spoofing

CVE-2026-41232GHSA-vmjj-qr7v-pxm6

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (froxlor/froxlor 2.3.6), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary In EmailSender::add(), the domain ownership validation for full email sender aliases uses the wrong array index when splitting the email address, passing the local part instead of the domain to validateLocalDomainOwnership(). This causes the ownership check to always pass for non-existent "domains," allowing any authenticated customer to add sender aliases for email addresses on domains belonging to other customers. Postfix's senderloginmaps then authorizes the attacker to send emails as those addresses. Details In lib/Froxlor/Api/Commands/EmailSender.php at line 100, when a customer adds a full email address (not a @domain wildcard) as an allowed sender, the code splits on @ and takes index [0]: For input admin@domain-b.com, explode("@", "admin@domain-b.com") returns ["admin", "domain-b.com"]. Index [0] is "admin" — the local part, not the domain. The validateLocalDomainOwnership() function (lines 346-355) then queries paneldomains for a domain matching "admin": Since no…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-41232

Advisory: Froxlor has an Email Sender Alias Domain Ownership Bypass via Wrong Array Index Allows Cross-Customer Email Spoofing
IDs: CVE-2026-41232, GHSA-vmjj-qr7v-pxm6
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-41232 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:39 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.0)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: froxlor/froxlor 2.3.6. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Packagist froxlor/froxlor: affected < 2.3.6; fixed in 2.3.6

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Packagist froxlor/froxlor: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on froxlor/froxlor.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
