Summary [!IMPORTANT] There is no plan to fix this issue as OpenTelemetry.Exporter.Jaeger was deprecated in 2023. It is for informational purposes only. OpenTelemetry.Exporter.Jaeger may allow sustained memory pressure when the internal pooled-list sizing grows based on a large observed span/tag set and that enlarged size is reused for subsequent allocations. Under high-cardinality or attacker-influenced telemetry input, this can increase memory consumption and potentially cause denial of service. Details The Jaeger exporter conversion path can append tag/event data into pooled list structures. In affected versions, pooled allocation sizing may be influenced by large observed payloads and reused globally across later allocations, resulting in persistent oversized rentals and elevated memory pressure. In environments where telemetry attributes/events can be influenced by untrusted input and limits are increased from defaults, this may lead to process instability or denial of service.…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-41078 Advisory: OpenTelemetry .NET has potential memory exhaustion via unbounded pooled-list sizing in Jaeger exporter conversion path IDs: CVE-2026-41078, GHSA-38h3-2333-qx47 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-41078 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 17:04 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.9) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - NuGet opentelemetry.exporter.jaeger: affected <= 1.6.0-rc.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - NuGet opentelemetry.exporter.jaeger: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on opentelemetry.exporter.jaeger. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-38h3-2333-qx47 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-38h3-2333-qx47 lists affected ranges: NuGet opentelemetry.exporter.jaeger >=0 <=1.6.0-rc.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
