Summary The directory traversal fix introduced in commit 2375eb5e0 for objects/aVideoEncoderReceiveImage.json.php only checks the URL path component (via parseurl($url, PHPURLPATH)) for .. sequences. However, the downstream function trygetcontentsfromlocal() in objects/functionsFile.php uses explode('/videos/', $url) on the full URL string including the query string. An attacker can place the /videos/../../ traversal payload in the query string to bypass the security check and read arbitrary files from the server filesystem. Details The security fix at commit 2375eb5e0 added a traversal check at objects/aVideoEncoderReceiveImage.json.php:49: This only inspects the path component of the URL. For a URL like http://TARGET/x?a=/videos/../../etc/passwd, parseurl() returns /x as the path — no .. is found. The URL then passes through isValidURL() (objects/functions.php:4203) which accepts it because FILTERVALIDATEURL considers .. in query strings valid per RFC 3986. It also passes…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-41062 Advisory: WWBN AVideo has an Incomplete fix: Directory traversal bypass via query string in ReceiveImage downloadURL parameters IDs: CVE-2026-41062, GHSA-m63r-m9jh-3vc6 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-41062 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist wwbn/avideo: affected <= 29.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist wwbn/avideo: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on wwbn/avideo. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-m63r-m9jh-3vc6 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-m63r-m9jh-3vc6 lists affected ranges: Packagist wwbn/avideo >=0 <=29.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
