PraisonAIAgents has SSRF and Local File Read via Unvalidated URLs in web_crawl Tool
CVE-2026-40150GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (praisonaiagents 1.5.128), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary The webcrawl() function in praisonaiagents/tools/webcrawltools.py accepts arbitrary URLs from AI agents with zero validation. No scheme allowlisting, hostname/IP blocklisting, or private network checks are applied before fetching. This allows an attacker (or prompt injection in crawled content) to force the agent to fetch cloud metadata endpoints, internal services, or local files via file:// URLs. Details The webcrawl() function at webcrawltools.py:182 accepts a URL string or list of URLs and passes them directly to HTTP clients without any SSRF protections: The crawlwithhttpx() fallback at line 133 makes the actual requests: The specific vulnerabilities are: 1. No URL scheme validation — http://, https://, file://, ftp://, gopher:// are all accepted 2. No hostname/IP blocklist — 169.254.169.254, 127.0.0.1, 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x, 192.168.x.x are all reachable 3. Redirect following enabled — httpx.Client(followredirects=True) allows redirect-based SSRF bypasses…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-40150 Advisory: PraisonAIAgents has SSRF and Local File Read via Unvalidated URLs in web_crawl Tool IDs: CVE-2026-40150, GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-40150 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:40 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: praisonaiagents 1.5.128. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI praisonaiagents: affected < 1.5.128; fixed in 1.5.128 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show praisonaiagents`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on praisonaiagents. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244 (OSV record GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244 lists affected ranges: PyPI praisonaiagents >=0 <1.5.128 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-8f4v-xfm9-3244 lists affected ranges: PyPI praisonaiagents >=0 <1.5.128) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
