Summary The AVideo YPTSocket plugin's caller feature renders incoming call notifications using the jQuery Toast Plugin, passing the caller's display name directly as the heading parameter. The toast plugin constructs the heading as raw HTML ('<h2' + heading + '</h2') and inserts it into the DOM via jQuery's .html() method, which parses and executes any embedded HTML or script content. An attacker can set their display name to an XSS payload and trigger code execution on any online user's browser simply by initiating a call - no victim interaction is required beyond being connected to the WebSocket. Details When a call notification arrives via WebSocket, the caller's identity is extracted from the JSON message: This value is passed directly to the jQuery Toast Plugin as the heading: Inside the jQuery Toast Plugin, the heading is rendered as raw HTML: jQuery's .html() method parses the string as HTML and executes any script-bearing elements (such as <img onerror, <svg onload, etc.).…

A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist wwbn/avideo: affected <= 26.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist wwbn/avideo: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on wwbn/avideo. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-w4hp-w536-jg64 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-w4hp-w536-jg64 lists affected ranges: Packagist wwbn/avideo >=0 <=26.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
