AIOHTTP has HTTP response splitting via \r in reason phrase

CVE-2026-34519GHSA-mwh4-6h8g-pg8w

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (aiohttp 3.13.4), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Affected packages

  • PyPI aiohttp

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary An attacker who controls the reason parameter when creating a Response may be able to inject extra headers or similar exploits. Impact In the unlikely situation that an application allows untrusted data to be used in the response's reason parameter, then an attacker could manipulate the response to send something different from what the developer intended. ----- Patch: https://github.com/aio-libs/aiohttp/commit/53b35a2f8869c37a133e60bf1a82a1c01642ba2b

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-34519

Advisory: AIOHTTP has HTTP response splitting via \r in reason phrase
IDs: CVE-2026-34519, GHSA-mwh4-6h8g-pg8w
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-34519 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:40 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Low (CVSS 2.7)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: aiohttp 3.13.4. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- PyPI aiohttp: affected <= 3.13.3; fixed in 3.13.4

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `python -m pip show aiohttp`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on aiohttp.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
