Nginx-UI: Cross-Site WebSocket Hijacking (CSWSH) via missing origin validation on all WebSocket endpoints
CVE-2026-34403GHSA-78mf-482w-62qj
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI 1.9.10-0.20260316053337-1a9cd29a3082), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

Summary All WebSocket endpoints in nginx-ui use a gorilla/websocket Upgrader with CheckOrigin unconditionally returning true, allowing Cross-Site WebSocket Hijacking (CSWSH). Combined with the fact that authentication tokens are stored in browser cookies (set via JavaScript without HttpOnly or explicit SameSite attributes), a malicious webpage can establish authenticated WebSocket connections to the nginx-ui instance when a logged-in administrator visits the attacker-controlled page. Details Vulnerable Code Pattern Every WebSocket endpoint in the codebase uses the same unsafe upgrader configuration: Cookie-Based Authentication The Vue.js frontend stores JWT tokens as cookies without security attributes (app/src/pinia/moudule/user.ts): The backend middleware accepts tokens from cookies (internal/middleware/middleware.go): Affected Endpoints All WebSocket endpoints under the authenticated router group are vulnerable: | Endpoint | Impact | |---|---| | /api/nginx/detailstatus/ws | Leak…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-34403 Advisory: Nginx-UI: Cross-Site WebSocket Hijacking (CSWSH) via missing origin validation on all WebSocket endpoints IDs: CVE-2026-34403, GHSA-78mf-482w-62qj Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-34403 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:20 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.6) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI 1.9.10-0.20260316053337-1a9cd29a3082. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI: affected < 1.9.10-0.20260316053337-1a9cd29a3082; fixed in 1.9.10-0.20260316053337-1a9cd29a3082 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-78mf-482w-62qj (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-78mf-482w-62qj lists affected ranges: Go github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI >=0 <1.9.10-0.20260316053337-1a9cd29a3082) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
