AVideo has a Path Traversal in listFiles.json.php Enables Server Filesystem Enumeration

CVE-2026-33238GHSA-4wmm-6qxj-fpj4

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (wwbn/avideo 26.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary The listFiles.json.php endpoint accepts a path POST parameter and passes it directly to glob() without restricting the path to an allowed base directory. An authenticated uploader can traverse the entire server filesystem by supplying arbitrary absolute paths, enumerating .mp4 filenames and their full absolute filesystem paths wherever they exist on the server — including locations outside the web root, such as private or premium media directories. Details The vulnerable code is at objects/listFiles.json.php:8-45: The $POST['path'] value is used directly in glob() with no call to realpath() for normalization and no prefix check against a permitted base directory (e.g., $global['systemRootPath'] . 'videos/'). The response includes obj-path containing the full absolute filesystem path of each matched file. The extension filter ({.mp4,.mp4,.MP4}) limits results to .mp4 files, which prevents reading credentials or source code but does not prevent enumeration of video files stored…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-33238

Advisory: AVideo has a Path Traversal in listFiles.json.php Enables Server Filesystem Enumeration
IDs: CVE-2026-33238, GHSA-4wmm-6qxj-fpj4
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-33238 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:39 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 4.3)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: wwbn/avideo 26.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Packagist wwbn/avideo: affected <= 25.0; fixed in 26.0

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Packagist wwbn/avideo: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on wwbn/avideo.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
