Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Impact In SFTPGo versions prior to 2.7.1, a path normalization discrepancy between the protocol handlers and the internal Virtual Filesystem routing can lead to an authorization bypass. An authenticated attacker can craft specific file paths to bypass folder-level permissions or escape the boundaries of a configured Virtual Folder. Patches This issue has been addressed in SFTPGo version 2.7.1. The fix introduces strict edge-level path normalization, ensuring that all protocol inputs are fully sanitized and resolved to canonical POSIX paths before any routing or permission evaluations occur.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/drakkan/sftpgo/v2: affected <= 2.7.0; fixed in 2.7.1
- Go github.com/drakkan/sftpgo: affected <= 1.2.2

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/drakkan/sftpgo/v2: check the installed version with your package manager.
- Go github.com/drakkan/sftpgo: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/drakkan/sftpgo/v2, github.com/drakkan/sftpgo.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
