PinchTab has SSRF with Full Response Exfiltration via Download Handler

CVE-2026-30834GHSA-rw8p-c6hf-q3pg

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab 0.7.7), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

SSRF with Full Response Exfiltration via Download Handler Summary A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the /download endpoint allows any user with API access to induce the PinchTab server to make requests to arbitrary URLs, including internal network services and local system files, and exfiltrate the full response content. Details The GET /download?url=<url handler in download.go accepts a user-controlled url parameter and passes it directly to chromedp.Navigate(dlURL) without any validation or sanitization. Since the request is performed by the headless Chrome browser instance managed by PinchTab, it can access: 1. Local Files: Using the file:// scheme (e.g., file:///etc/passwd). 2. Internal Services: Accessing services bound to localhost or internal network IPs that are not reachable from the outside. 3. Cloud Metadata: Accessing cloud provider metadata endpoints (e.g., 169.254.169.254). The server then returns the captured response body directly to the attacker,…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-30834

Advisory: PinchTab has SSRF with Full Response Exfiltration via Download Handler
IDs: CVE-2026-30834, GHSA-rw8p-c6hf-q3pg
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-30834 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:15 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 7.5)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab 0.7.7. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab: affected <= 0.7.6; fixed in 0.7.7

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.

## Sources
- Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-rw8p-c6hf-q3pg (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-rw8p-c6hf-q3pg lists affected ranges: Go github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab/cmd/pinchtab >=0 <=0.7.6)

Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
