Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the NotChatbot WebChat widget thru 1.4.4. User-supplied input is not properly sanitized before being stored and rendered in the chat conversation history. This allows an attacker to inject arbitrary JavaScript code which is executed when the chat history is reloaded. The issue is reproducible across multiple independent implementations of the widget, indicating that the vulnerability resides in the product itself rather than in a specific website configuration.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-30048 Advisory: NotChatbot WebChat has a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability IDs: CVE-2026-30048, GHSA-w3vx-52j6-9fjp Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-30048 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:46 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @developer.notchatbot/webchat: affected <= 1.5.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @developer.notchatbot/webchat --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @developer.notchatbot/webchat. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w3vx-52j6-9fjp (OSV record GHSA-w3vx-52j6-9fjp lists affected ranges: npm @developer.notchatbot/webchat >=0 <=1.5.0) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-w3vx-52j6-9fjp (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-w3vx-52j6-9fjp lists affected ranges: npm @developer.notchatbot/webchat >=0 <=1.5.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
